This image shows the Ganges River delta at the border of India and Bangladesh. This holy river begins in the Himalaya Mountains and is joined by the Brahmaputra before emptying into the Bay of Bengal. The delta region is known as the Sundarban and contains the largest uninterrupted mangrove forest in the world. The Sundarban provides an important buffer against flooding caused by cyclones in the Bay of Bengal. It also is home to the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. The area covered by this image is approximately 146x120 miles. A full-resolution crop of the image file is available here that shows the detail present in the full image print.
