Chicago |
Tall buildings, friendly people, a vibrant downtown, extensive mass transit, and a strategic location combine to make Chicago a world-class city. This image follows Lake Michigan as it curves around from Gary, Indiana past Chicago to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and west across the Fox River. The Chicago river and its bridges are visible here along with the downtown skyscrapers and their shadows including the Sears Tower. Of course, Chicago also is home of the Cubs and historic Wrigley Field can be seen just west of Lake Michigan. Other notable Chicago landmarks that are visible in this image include Montrose Harbor, Lincoln Park Conservatory, Lincoln Park Zoo, Oak Street Beach, Navy Pier, Petrillo Bandshell, Buckingham Fountain, Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field. The 1.2 mile diameter circle formed by the Tevatron at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory stands out near the Fox River. The main injector and other components of Fermilab are visible. This lab performs experiments to answer fundamental questions about the nature of our universe. This image covers an area of approximately 81x120 miles. A full-resolution crop of the image file is available here that shows the detail present in this print. This is a large, high-resolution image with special pricing. Contact me for details.
