Barred Owl chick, Spring Creek, Richardson/Garland, Texas
This young Barred Owl is one of two chicks produced by the adult pair exhibited here. Leo was
the first to emerge from their nest and appears more developed than his sibling Snowflake. Both
siblings are very curious about their world. At this age the young owlets can fly only for short
distances. Here Leo is confidently perched near the top of a large oak tree with the setting sun
illuminating one eye.
